Sacral Chakra

Your sacral chakra is located in the area of your navel, lower abdomen, low back and sexual organs. The basic issues affected are creativity, sexuality, money, relationships, empathy, nurturing, pleasure, emotions, movement, change, warmth, and intimacy. It represents your ability to go with the flow – grace and acceptance and allowing yourself to enjoy your life and achievements.  The associated body parts are your hips, lower back, sexual organs, bladder, kidneys, stomach, large intestine, pelvis, appendix, and bodily fluids.

sacral chakra

Our roles are affected by the programming in this area of fear of abandonment, financial security, social status, children, and creativity.  You can be controlled by your fears, level of trust, control, blame, guilt and shame. This area is concerned with daily aspects of living, people to whom we relate, and quality of our relationships.  It also relates to everything we own, money, relationships, and passion.
If you are feeling pain or discomfort in your any of these body locations, it may be an indication that there are some emotional issues that need clearing. Low back pain has a high association with money issues among other things.  If you do not have a habit of safely expressing your emotions, it is likely that your lower body is holding onto these emotions until you are ready to process them.  Unexpressed and unprocessed emotions do not go away, they take up residence in your energetic and physical bodies.

Ask yourself these questions to see if you have any stuck energy in your sacral chakra.
1.            In what areas do you allow yourself to experience pleasure? Where do you not? 2.            Do you feel creative and sensual? 3.            How often do you do things that you don’t really enjoy?  That you do enjoy? 4.            When you do things for others is it from a genuine desire to be of service or are you really trying to win their approval or love? 5.            Do you have co-dependent relationships? How do you contribute to them? 6.            Do you experience jealousy? 7.            Do you trust that life is abundant and there is always enough?  8.            Do you allow life to be easy or do you believe you have to struggle and sacrifice and that everything is hard?

6 Ways to Balance the Sacral Chakra

1. Hip-opening yoga postures.  If you’ve ever taken a yoga class, you’ve likely heard a teacher say at least once that we store emotional and physical tension in our hips—hence yoga’s many hip-opening postures. This directly connects to your sacral chakra. If you doubt at all the validity of this, notice where you grip or clench your muscles the next time you’re in a stressful situation. It’s likely your throat area (another emotional center) and your hips and lower abdomen. Remember also that your hips move in many directions— even though many people think of hip-openers as external rotation only. While it’s ideal to do a few postures that stretch your hips through their full range of motion, holding one pose and focusing on completely letting go is a great place to start. My personal favorite is cow pose, but bound angle is another ideal asana to hold and breathe into.

2.  Dance like no one’s watching. Dancing is one of the best—and easiest—ways to open your sacral chakra. So close the door, turn on your favorite music, and move. For double the cleansing effects, get out with friends as you move your hips to your favorite rhythm.

3. Tone up. While learning to let go of unnecessary muscular gripping and tension is ideal for chakra health throughout your body, it’s also important to take care of your body and keep your muscles strong and healthy. One of the main reasons to have a physical yoga practice is to make the body a fit—no pun intended—vehicle for the spirit and to prepare your body for seated meditation (another reason for hip-opening postures), and the lower abdominals are frequently an area that people let go. Some of my favorites for strong lower abs are boat pose (really hug the knees in towards the chest), pendant pose and yogic leg lifts.

4. Visualize orange. Orange is the sacral chakra’s color. Imagine a bright, healing orange glow filling up your entire lower abdomen—keeping in mind that we’re three dimensional. I have SI joint problems and often focus specifically on this region, so feel free to send your breath—and the color orange—to any particular area of disease or tension.

5. Balance your other chakras. A severe imbalance in one chakra almost always means imbalances in other chakras as well. (They work as a system.) Your throat chakra in particular has strong connections to your sacral chakra. The next time you practice your deep hip-opening posture of choice, notice if you feel a release in your throat area as well (double pigeon/fire log pose is wonderful for this). You can also try working a pose like bridge that allows you to connect with many of your chakras at one time; flowing slowly in and out of the posture as you connect your breath and movement.

6. Let go. You’ll see me write this a lot in my blogs, but learning to let go—of unhealthy emotions, people, and memories—is so important. When we learn to let go of the baggage that we don’t need to carry, we create space and energy for new and better opportunities.

In life, it’s all too easy to become emotionally closed off or overly dependent on the people around us. Learning to trust our intuition, yet not be ruled by our emotions, is something that—like many worthwhile things—takes practice. I hope these tips for sacral chakra balancing inspire you on your journey to be your best—and healthiest—self.

The Mayonaise Jar

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the
students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it
was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favourite passions--
and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else--the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you
will never have room for the things that are important to you.

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the
disposal. Take care of the golf balls first--the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

The Limiting Belief Release

The Limiting Belief Release by Michelle Lowbridge

This is an energy correction. It's very powerful and will quickly release your unwanted and limiting beliefs.

1) Decide on a belief you want to release.
2) Place the fingers of your DOMINANT hand vertically down the centre of your chest. (see the picture - I'm a leftie so using my left hand)

3) Repeat the Limiting Belief out loud, over and over again for 30 seconds. e.g. "I am not good enough, I am not good enough"
4) Smile, you just dissolved a limiting belief from your energy system
5) Don't do more than 4 of these a day - they are powerful and you need to let your energy system process the change.
6) Let me know how you get on, I'd love your feedback!

This is Michelle's method that I found on Facebook, but I know it really works!! And because it works, I wanted to share it with all of you, I really just thought you would enjoy it.

Lesson 2 – Shadow Self – Self Sabotage

“The Shadow Self is all about looking the parts of you that are creating sabotage and holding you back.” It’s plain and simple that we are human beings. There are so many things in our lives that have happened and we have buried so deep down in that part of our mind that we don’t want to surface ever again. But a part of us is always going to remember those memories and we can’t suppress them forever. The best thing you can do is bring them up, forgive them, the other person, the situation and yourself, and let it go. Stop letting it hold you back anymore. Until you learn to forgive and move past these emotions and feelings, you will always be held back from achieving your highest potential.

The very first time I read Twelve Lessons, so much stuff came up to the surface. I was a miserable wreck, because these emotions that you have suppressed for years, well they make you emotional. And I had suppressed anything that made upset, hurt, unworthy, all those emotions that you don’t want to feel, mainly because I didn’t like those memories or how they made me feel. Some of them came to the surface to be forgiven and released for good. But I had to feel these feelings then in order to get past them. This lesson, in and of itself, was a very big one for me personally. And I’m sure it will be a big one for anyone who has had programming from their parents growing up about issues they have.

While I was growing up, I was the oldest of 4 children. I was always blamed by both of my parents for something going wrong or missing, when I’d never even touched the missing item or I wasn’t even around what happened that made something go wrong.  And to this day, I’m still compared to my younger siblings by my parents. They are more successful than I am, they know how to manage their money, they, they, they. I have to listen to this spiel at least once a week because in my parents’ eyes, I’m unsuccessful, taking up space in their house and eating their food. But I also have 2 college degrees in a subject that I absolutely love. I have an amazing business as a lightworker helping others to heal and enhance their lives. And frankly, I just love life right now. It’s better than it has ever been before and I’ve never been this happy! I’ve made so much progress of getting rid of self sabotaging thoughts, yes I do still have a lot more to get rid of, but I’ve gotten rid of ones that have really held me back. I know I’m worthy of everything I have ever wanted in my life now. I may not be my parents’ definition of success, but I am successful. And I don’t give up! I keep my faith and I keep pushing through, even when I can’t see over the tidal waves coming towards me. I won’t work another job that I absolutely hate anymore! And that is why I’m still unemployed, as in working a normal job, my own business is more of a hobby at the moment because I love it so. I could easily go out and get a job in a warehouse or as a cashier or a customer service representative, but I hate all those jobs. And I won’t put myself through the torture of working them ever again. I know I’m worthy of the jobs I want and know that I can do. I know I can be successful and make really good money doing what I love.

So what is holding you back from achieving your greatest feats? Do you have programming from your parents about not being good enough? Do you have programming from bosses or coworkers about not being able to do the job correctly because you do it a little different than they do to save time? Do you just have self limiting behaviors that are holding you back because of a fear you may have?

You may also start to discover the aspects of yourself that hold you back and even sabotage your behaviors. By discovering these behaviors, is the first step to healing and overcoming the influence of them. No one else’s opinion matters in what you do. If it is something you love, then go for it! Don’t let anyone else hold you back anymore. I let others hold me back for years, and I’m not doing it anymore and I have gotten to a place where I love my life more than I ever have before, even with all of the work I still have to do ahead of me.

So right now it’s time to free yourself from those limiting beliefs and behaviors that you have been carrying around for years. These beliefs do not serve you and they never have. So release them and reach your fullest potential possible. Sit down with a pen and paper and start to ask yourself what beliefs you have that sabotage you and your dreams. Write down your answers, then start working through them one by one to release them and their hold on you in this lifetime. You’ll be amazing at free you finally feel once you release those blocks that have sabotaged you for years! I know I did!

Root Chakra

Out of the 7 main chakras that are known, the root or base chakra, is the first one. This chakra is located at the base of spine. The color that is associated with the root chakra is red. With this chakra being the first one, it is the most physical one. Any activity that has to do with awareness of the body will strengthen this chakra. This chakra will also help you keep your feet on the ground versus having your head in the clouds.

Some of the best ways strengthen this chakra are physical activities: sports, martial arts, walking, yoga, Tai Chi, house cleaning, car cleaning, etc. So if you are a person that does a lot of work out doors with gardening, taking care of animals, farming, hiking, you most likely have a very balanced root chakra! This is a very good thing. I know I don’t have any grounding issues and the main reason is because I work on a dairy farm.

The root chakra relates to our most basic survival needs and sense of belonging. It relates to our most important relationships, financial stability, home, and fears. When the energy is flowing freely through this chakra, we feel secure and confident that our needs are easily fulfilled. And when this chakra is blocked, we tend to feel anxious and worried. This chakra also relates to the flight or fight response and keeping you safe.

Some of the best crystals for this chakra are red jasper, bloodstone, ruby, garnet and fire agate. Basically any red crystal. The crystals of the Earth Star Chakra are also good for working this chakra as well.

The best essential oils for the root chakra are frankincense, patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver. These oils all have a woody or earthy scent for coping with stress and keeping you calm.

A very good recipe that you can whip up to help with this chakra is to use jojoba or coconut oil as the base, then mix in a drop or two of each of the essential oils from above. Then rub this oil on your feet as a massage or reflexology treatment before you go to bed for the night. Very relaxing!

Lesson 1 – The Phoenix ~ Be Open to Change and Possibility

When I first read Kate Spencer’s book Twelve Lessons, this book resonated so much with me. In a way, I felt like Kate was telling me my life story from a different point of view. Well, only part of it. Not all of it is completely relatable for me in the same context, but I learned so much from reading this book and I really wanted to share the 12 Lessons Kate shares in her book and her journal as a blog series. I just never got around to actually doing the work to make the blog posts before. Well, now I am, so over the next 12 weeks, I will share information from the book and each lesson. Who knows, this may help you more than you think!! This book has been compared to The Secret. Personally, I think it’s a more human experience version of The Secret, and more relatable to what we as humans experience on a regular basis. It is a book of fiction, but the lessons that Stephanie goes through and experiencing a year in her life makes us feel like we are right there going through it all with her. At least that’s how I feel, you should check out this book and see for yourself. It’s available on Kindle and paperback!

The first lesson that Stephanie is taught is to be open to change and possibility. In this life so many people are resistant to change and the possibility of something new happening. I have seen this so much in my time here on Earth, from people I interact with every day to the people in line at the grocery store. Change happens daily and there is no stopping it! So the best way to overcome it, is to accept it and embrace it! Personally, I love change. I’m always looking for something new, a new way to do things, a new way to learn something, a new job, a new place to live, new friends to add to my circle, and the list could go on and on. Yes, sometimes change is forced upon us by natural causes (i.e. fire, flood, and other acts of nature), and that change isn’t exactly wanted, but it also teaches us lessons that we have been resistant to learning.  This life is all about learning lessons, just like this book teaches us some very important lessons as well.

Several months ago, I had to learn the lesson of change being forced upon me, by going through a fire. I strongly feel that that fire was the universe telling me that I had not listened long enough and the universe was stepping in and forcing the change upon me. This was a change I had been practically begging the universe for, for several months, but nothing that I wanted came to me.  I became a completely different person because of that fire. I let go of physical belongings because they were ruined by smoke damage, but I also let go of people that I thought were friends and in reality, had only been using me for my knowledge and abilities. And I think that was the real lesson that was being taught here, the release of people that were only using me and weren’t real friends.  But I did resist this change of letting go because of the fire for a few weeks. It took me over a month to really grasp the lesson the universe was trying to teach me here. But once that lesson came through, it came through loud and clear and I had a major Ah-ha moment and things started to fall into place. Now that I’m back on my feet again, loving life to the fullest, and experiencing everything fully every moment of every day, I’m ready for the final aspect of this change to take place, so I can really spread my wings and fly away!

We all need to learn to stop being so resistant to change. The more resistant you are to change, the more change will be thrust upon you. It is like you are telling the universe that you basically like being unhappy, so the universe will continue to give you situations that make you unhappy. Make changes in your life that will give you a better life today and tomorrow, not just yesterday. Accept the changes that are coming your way. Who knows, by accepting these changes, you may get more changes that you like even more coming towards you as well.

Check out my book review for this book as well. Or you can also book your own 12 Lessons reading to get your own set of 12 Lessons for the next 12 months.
