Do you want to remember the most expensive gift someone got you? How much you spent on gifts this year? Or do you want to remember the feeling of unconditional love and appreciation from those in your immediate family? Your children? Your parents?
Remember the holiday season is not about the material things that someone gets for us. It's about spending that extra quality time with your family. We never know how long each person has left on this planet, so spend that quality time with your loved ones and let them know how much you love and appreciate them. Don't go all out on those material items that your kids want this year. Let them know that there is more to the holiday season than the material items. Start a new tradition this year. Give to kids who may not have a Christmas present under the tree unless it is donated. There are so many people that go without, not just at this time of year, but all year round. Show someone how compassionate you can be and buy a present to be donated to a special child in need. Donate time at a food bank or a dinner serving people who may not have a meal. Donate money to a person who may be homeless to have a hot meal. Do something good for someone else.
Doing something good for someone else also helps you. This is also something you will remember 1 year down the road and may want to continue to do. I know I want to donate toys to kids in need this year and start a tradition of my own of doing this. You can also send holiday cards to our soldiers overseas to let them know they are appreciated.
The biggest thing you can share this holiday season is YOUR heart!
Donating time and money are little things. Sharing from your heart is the biggest things you can ever share with anyone, whether it's a stranger or a loved one. It simply shows that you CARE and are a compassionate human being. Don't be a GRINCH this holiday season, share the love and compassion I know you have in your heart!
Let me know what your ONE special thing you are doing this holiday season for someone, whether it be a stranger or a loved one. I want to hear what you are doing that you will remember months and even years down the road. Follow me on Twitter and Pinterest
